Wine tasting Experience with food pairing @Dans Le Noir?
You are about to live an unbelievable experience: a wine tasting in the pitch dark.
When? May 16th, from 6h30 PM to 8PM,
Where? Dans Le Noir?, 246 W. 38th Street, New York, NY 10018.
If this idea seems to be a little strange at first, it is that by suppressing the dominant sense of sight, we each enter a world where we are uncertain of our surroundings and experiences. You are going to completely re-evaluate the notions of taste and smell through this unique experience.
The wine tasting will be conducted by Jean Francois, the owner of Traditions & Innovations, which works with family-run wineries in France and Spain. Dans Le Noir’s blind guides will be there as well to help us during the whole tasting!
You will taste the following:
- Clos Blanc 2010 – Touraine AOC, Domaine du Clos Roussely – Touraine, 100% Sauvignon Blanc (certified organic)
- Chiroubles AOC 2009- Cru Beaujolais, Domaine de la Combe au Loup- Beaujolais, 100% Gamay (sustainable Agriculture)
- Vignes d’En Gaume 2005- VDP Cotes Catalanes, EY Vineyards- Roussillon, 100% Grenache (Biodynamic)
- SOC 2008 – IGP Cotes Catalanes, Domaine Patrice EY- Roussillon, 100% Grenache Noir (certified organic)
- Finca Enguera Tempranillo 2010 – DO Valencia, Bodegas Enguera Valencia (Spain), 90% Tempranillo – 10% Monastrell (certified organic)
- Castillo de Enguera Reserva 2008 – DO Valencia, Bodegas Enguera Valencia (Spain), 50% Monastrell – Syrah 30% – Merlot 10% – Tempranillo 10% (certified organic)

What you need to know:
- Dans Le Noir means literally “in the dark” in French
- You will be in the complete dark but everything is recorded with heat cameras…no finger in the nose (or worse)!
- Hugh Jackman was spotted there a couple of weeks ago!

L’idée semble étrange au premier abord mais en supprimant le sens dominant de la vue, nous entrons dans un monde où nous sommes vulnérables et où nos autres sens sont obligés de prendre le relai.
Vous allez donc découvrir un nouvel odorat et une nouvelle manière de gouter et quoi de plus intéressant que de redécouvrir le vin ? (et même le b.a.ba : saurez-vous distinguer le rouge du blanc ?)
La dégustation des vins sera conduite par Jean-François, le propriétaire de Traditions et innovations, qui représente des domaines viticoles familiaux en France (Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Loire, Rhône, Languedoc et le Roussillon) et en Espagne (Catalunya, Valencia et Rioja).
Les serveurs non-voyants du restaurant seront aussi là pour vous accompagner au long de cette dégustation.
