Hindi Zahra will be performing live at S.O.B.’s in Manhattan Thursday, March 8th. Doors will open at 7PM and the show will begin at 8PM.
With just the slightest of nonchalance, a filigree of swing in the delivery, and a delicately veiled voice, meet Hindi Zahra and her gently undulating sense of melody.
With a subtle, understated guitar accompaniment, a dash of gypsy flavor between the lines and a hint of blues, time stands still. Intense, intimate, poetic vibrations, with a velvety feline timbre, Hindi Zahra is a revelation.
Zahra is a Franco-Morrocan singer born in Morocco. She grew up with her Moroccan mother in Khouribga and left school at age 15 to move to her father in Paris.
At age 18 she started writing her first lyrics and melodies, releasing her first EP in 2009, Hindi Zahra. Zahra self-describes her sound as ‘Worldly’; as she takes her own musical heritage and integrates it with blues, jazz, berber, folk and french-morrocan.
She’s known for her singles “Fascination” “Imik Si Mik,” “Stand Up” and “Beautiful Tango” and her breakthrough album Handmade of Naïve Records self-produced as she wrote her own songs and played the instruments.
